Strada delle Vette — the “road of the peaks” — is an always winding, at times panoramic, service road that connects the major peaks in the Sila Grande area, stepping up to the height of Mt. Botte Donato at almost 2.000 mt a.s.l. Due to the vast differences in altitude and exposure, the variety of ecosystems along this stretch of road is staggering, but all of them are lush and a joy for the avid hiker. In winter, this service road becomes a cross-country ski track: the silence becomes even more absolute, interrupted only by the sound of your skis on the snow and some old branch snapping due to the excessive weight.
